If you’re addicted to the sounds of jazz and blues music of the late ’40s and early ’50s, you’ll absolutely love the repertoire of Adrianna Marie and Her Groovecutters featuring LA Jones and the Groovecutter horns. Recently re-located from the west coast, the now St. Louis residents bring their own brand of post-World War II jazzy-blues that arrive in a variety of grooves, with subjects ranging from romance and fun(naturally) to reflections on the music itself. First call musician and band leader of his own big band, trombonist Dave Dickey leads the Groovecutter horn section. With Danny Campbell on trumpet and Hugh Jones on tenor sax, the Groovecutter horns elevate each song with driving riffs, genre perfect head arrangements and sublime solos. This swinging band will transport you to a time of fast cars, strong drinks, posh night clubs and well-dressed men and woman either in love or playing at it. Blue Strawberry STL is a music showroom and lounge in the CWE. Local and national acts take the stage. Thoughtful menu, wines and cocktails.
