Description

The Missouri Sierra Club and People's Joy Parade are coming together to host a People's Parade and People's Hearing! We are combining community-made walkable, wearable art along with music and our voices to celebrate the clean energy future we want. This is a family-friendly event open to all members of the community. If you are a breather of air - this event is for you! We will meet at Lafayette Square and march on sidewalks to Ameren Headquarters in Downtown St. Louis. Outside of Ameren we will hear from community members and local leaders in their fight for renewable energy. We are hosting this event to demand Ameren to come clean in their long-term planning, or integrated resource plan. In this plan, Ameren Missouri proposed keeping their superpolluting Labadie coal-fired power plant open until 2042. The Labadie plant is the second-largest in the country to operate without modern pollution controls, and it is the second-deadliest power plant in the country. Ameren also proposes keeping the Sioux coal-fired plant open by an additional four years, and adding a lot of gas and pipelines to our communities. There are no public hearings for this process, so we are hosting our own hearing while also celebrating the clean energy future we deserve with wearable and walkable art! Registration is open to all members of the community at: http://sc.org/peoplesparade
