Description
The City of St. Louis will host a public open house to discuss traffic safety improvements at the Cherokee Recreation Center (3200 S. Jefferson Ave.) on Thursday, August 8, from 4 to 7 p.m. Community members are invited to view preliminary designs and provide feedback on traffic safety along Jefferson Avenue, spanning from Chouteau Avenue to Chippewa Street.
“Improving traffic safety involves actively listening to public feedback,” said Mayor Tishaura O. Jones. “Community input helped to significantly update the Kingshighway designs, and it is crucial to apply the same approach to these plans.”
This initiative is a part of the $46 million Principal Arterial Traffic Safety Enhancements project, which involves resurfacing, striping, improving ADA measures and traffic calming more than 30 miles of arterials, including Jefferson, Kingshighway, Grand and Union.
The improvements on Jefferson and Parnell avenues between Chouteau and Natural Bridge avenues will be completed this fall. To learn more about the $300 million being invested into transportation infrastructure in St. Louis, visit the City’s new Friendly Streets webpage.
