Description
"Roots of the Community: Mapping Black History" is a passive, collaborative program designed to engage participants in the celebration and preservation of Black history in Saint Louis throughout Black History Month. This program invites individuals to locate, pin, and annotate stories of significance within Black neighborhoods, schools, houses, businesses, and other community spaces on a shared map.
By participating, users can contribute historical accounts, personal memories, or cultural landmarks that represent the vibrancy and resilience of Black communities. Whether it’s the first Black-owned business in a neighborhood, a school that nurtured generations of leaders, or a home that held pivotal moments in the fight for civil rights, participants will help create a rich tapestry of Black history that extends beyond textbooks and into the heart of their communities.
