Description
St. Louis has always been a hub for art, music, and Black culture. Mill Creek, often coined the Harlem of St. Louis, shaped exceptionally talented people, and its impact on American culture cannot be understated. Join us for exciting Mill Creek—inspired music and dance performances by HEAL Center for the Arts and Carrie Collins-Whitfield before a conversation with Curator Gwen Moore by St. Louis media mainstay Carol Daniel, discussing how Mill Creek and Black Culture intersect as a major influence on pop culture today.
Join us in the Grand Hall before our main-stage event to enjoy food and drinks available for purchase from Amighetti’s. Check out resource tables and try our Black Artist Matching Challenge. Enjoy live music with local DJ Lamar Harris. Drop in for a Mill Creek: Black Metropolis pop-up tour.

- 5–7pm | Food and drinks available for purchase from Amighetti’s.
- 5:00–6:30pm | Visit resource tables, try out the Black Artist Matching Challenge, and enjoy live music with DJ Lamar Harris.
- 5:30–5:50pm | Participate in a brief tour of Mill Creek: Black Metropolis.
- 6:00–6:20pm | Participate in a brief tour of Mill Creek: Black Metropolis.
- 6:30–8:00pm | Head to the Lee Auditorium (lower level) and join us for an exciting Mill Creek–inspired music and dance performances, followed by a conversation with curator Gwen Moore and St. Louis media mainstay Carol Daniel about how Mill Creek and Black culture intersect as a major influence on pop culture today.
