Description

?? Saturday, February 28 ?? 5:00–7:00 p.m. ?? Grace United Methodist Church – 6199 Waterman Blvd. St. Louis, MO 63112 ?? $30 per person Join us for an extraordinary evening that celebrates the intersection of three legendary culinary traditions. This curated dinner brings together the soul-warming spices of India, the fresh, aromatic mezze of Lebanon, and the ancient, savory heritage of Iraq. Each dish has been selected to create a harmonious journey from the Mediterranean through the Middle East and into the heart of South Asia. The Starters: A Middle Eastern & Indian Mezze Our appetizers offer a vibrant introduction to the textures and flavors of the region. Vegetarian Samosas (India): Crispy, golden-fried pastry pockets generously filled with a delicately spiced mixture of potatoes and green peas. Classic Hummus (Iraq & Lebanon): A silky Middle Eastern staple meticulously prepared from puréed chickpeas, tahini, and fresh lemon juice, finished with a premium olive oil drizzle. Labneh Dip with Za’atar & Olives (Lebanon): A refreshing and tangy strained yogurt dip, elegantly garnished with aromatic Lebanese Za’atar and finely chopped black olives. The Main Event: Bold & Authentic Indian Flavors For the main course, we move into the rich, aromatic heart of Indian home cooking. Authentic Chicken Masala: Succulent chicken thighs slow-cooked in a rich gravy of sautéed onions, ripe tomatoes, and a signature blend of turmeric, coriander, and cumin, finished with a touch of creamy yogurt. Fragrant Basmati Rice: Light, long-grain Basmati rice, perfectly steamed to soak up every drop of the masala gravy. Garlic Naan: Soft, freshly baked leavened flatbread infused with aromatic garlic and brushed with a hint of butter. Kachumber Salad: A vibrant, refreshing Indian salad of finely diced cucumbers, red onions, and ripe tomatoes with fresh coriander. The Sweet Finale & Traditional Sip We conclude the evening with the delicate, floral sweetness of the Levant. Riz bi Haleeb (Lebanon): A creamy Lebanese rice pudding infused with the subtle floral notes of rose and orange blossom water, elegantly garnished with crushed pistachios. Jallab (Lebanon & Iraq): An invigorating traditional chilled beverage crafted from dates, grape molasses, and rose water. Why attend? Your ticket directly fuels the Fork in the Road Foundation’s mission to empower refugee chefs in St. Louis. Come for a culinary journey through Iraq, Lebanon, and India; stay for the community.
