Description
April is National Poetry Month, an opportunity to celebrate the historic contributions and achievements of Black poets. We invite you to the Artist In Da House with Spoken Word Artist Freeman Word at 1 p.m., on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Progressive Emporium, 1108 N. Sarah Street. St. Louis-based poet, educator, community leader and spoken word artist, Freeman Word is known as the “People’s Poet.” He will share his fiery, raw, rhythmic, slam-worthy poetry to art lovers who appreciate storytelling via spoken word. He will imprint strong poignant messages about life in urban gardens (cities), Freeman is a recipient of the Langston Hughes Award for Artistic Accomplishments in the Black Community and the Helen Davis Humanitarian Award.
