Description

“A knockout, as dynamic a personality as he is virtuosic on the keys.” -WhatsOnStage “A Rising Star.” -The Scotsman ASCAP Next Generation of Songrwriters Recipient Did you see Mathis Picard accompanying Cyrille Aimée here in March? Wow! One of the complete breakthrough debut piano performances ever at Blue Strawberry. His future looks to be unlimited, and we are proud to get him back on June 3 for his own solo show. He brings an infectious energy, spirit and humor to his astonishing technical skills. Born and raised in France, with formative years in Madagascar, and now based in New York City, Mathis honors his background by merging all those musical influences. Named “A Rising Star” by The Scotsman, Mathis is an ASCAP Next Generation of Songwriters Recipient, a member of the Montreux Jazz Foundation, and an alumnus of The Juilliard School, where he was mentored by Kenny Barron. WhatsOnStage has described Mathis as a “knockout, as dynamic a personality as he is virtuosic on the keys.” Mathis has had the honor of working with artists such as Ron Carter, Lillias White, Wynton Marsalis, Christian McBride, Andre DeSheilds, Cyrille Aimée, Lee Ritenour, Daniel J Watts, Herlin Riley, DJ Kindness, Braxton Cook, Veronica Swift, Etienne Charles and many more. Thank you to Gerry Mandel and Betsey Comfort for graciously sponsoring Mathis’s show.
