The FREE Iron Bulldog Invitational to be held on Cottage Ave, in front of Sumner High School - August 22, 2026, from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm. In the backdrop of Tandy Recreational Center, Charles Sumner High School towers over The Ville community. Equally tied by the Mighty Mississippi, “Tandy” was once famously known for training and producing skillful boxers and hosting the historically competitive Boxing Tournaments and “Sumner” Sumner High School opened in 1875 as the first African American high school west of the Mississippi. For the 3rd year we present the City-Wide Boxing Tournament, once again showcasing boxing’s finest in The Ville community. This year’s Iron Bulldog Invitational to be held on Cottage Ave, in front of Sumner High School. On August 22, 2026, from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm, the community event features local talent competing in USA Boxing sanctioned matches in an outdoor boxing ring. This FREE family friendly event offers music and food with volunteers from Sumner Class of 68, 69, and 70.
