Description

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Lav Diaz and starring Gael García Bernal, Magellan (2025) is an immersive historical epic that offers a contemplative, unvarnished reexamination of Ferdinand Magellan’s 16th-century expedition. Driven by ambition, the Portuguese navigator secures Spanish backing to forge a western route to the Spice Islands, unleashing a grueling voyage marked by mutiny, harsh conditions, and severe measures to maintain control. Not rated, 2 hours, 40 minutes. This event is presented in collaboration with the Latinx Film Festival STL.
