City of St. Louis Residents may apply to become a non-partisan Technical Specialist to set up and maintain all of the technical aspects of the polling place machines.

Overview

A non-partisan technical specialist poll worker sets up and maintains all the technical aspects of the polling place machines under the direction and rules specified by law, the BOE and poll managers.

The Board of Elections provide training before the election and technical support for poll workers on election day. No experience is required, and training is provided. A technical specialist poll worker is paid $300 per election.

 

Preparation

Make sure you meet the requirements to be a technical specialist poll worker:

  • Basic computer comprehension and mechanical skills. 
  • Able to read, write and speak English.
  • Must have your own vehicle. 
  • Able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Able to work the full day, 5am-7pm.
  • Be a registered Missouri voter.

What to Expect

After you apply, you will receive a letter or email with information on training sessions. The training session will last 1.5-2 hours.

After you've attended the training session, you'll be assigned to work at a polling location or serve as an alternate.

You will receive payment two weeks after the election is over.
