For more than half a century, Steinberg Skating Rink in Forest Park has welcomed visitors for cold-weather fun during the late fall and winter months. But what if this space in the region’s landmark park could remain open and active with a variety of programming all year long?
The nonprofit conservancy Forest Park Forever, in partnership with the City of St. Louis Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry, is conducting a study to determine the feasibility of renovating and improving Forest Park’s Steinberg Skating Rink, building and grounds, not only for winter ice skating, but also for creating an active, welcoming venue for a variety of year-round programming. Identifying the types of programming of interest to the St. Louis community is a critical piece of this study.
The City of St. Louis and Forest Park Forever are currently seeking community members’ input on how they might enjoy visiting and using this area of Forest Park during all four seasons. All feedback and ideas are welcome!
