  • Keep in touch with FEMA. If you’ve applied for FEMA assistance prior to the Nov. 7 deadline, you should keep in touch with FEMA if your situation has changed. This may include address, phone number, or bank information changes, changes in your housing arrangements, or if you have additional receipts for estimates or repairs.
  • You can keep in touch with FEMA by calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362, going online to DisasterAssistance.gov, or downloading and using the FEMA mobile app on your smartphone.
  • Homeowners who applied for FEMA assistance prior to the Nov. 7 deadline and had flood-related damage to furnaces or HVAC systems could still be eligible for reimbursement for those items and should submit repair or replacement estimates or invoices to FEMA.
  • Those who already applied for assistance and told FEMA they didn’t need to relocate while repairs were being made to their home, but now need a temporary place stay, may be eligible for rental assistance.
  • If individuals submitted a claim with the National Flood Insurance Program and the claim was denied, they have up to 60 days to appeal from the date the claim is denied. If claimants need assistance with their appeal, they should work with their insurance carrier, or they can contact NFIP at 877-336-2627.
  • Businesses and eligible private non-profits in St. Louis, St. Louis County and St. Charles County can still apply for a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Economic Injury Disaster Loan. Businesses and non-profits can apply online, receive additional disaster assistance information and download applications at disasterloanassistance.sba.gov. Applicants may also call SBA’s Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955. The deadline to apply for an SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan is May 8, 2023.
  • Free legal assistance is available to individuals in St. Louis, St. Louis County and St. Charles County who need help with flood-related issues, by calling 800-829-4128 and leaving a message about legal issues arising from damage caused by the floods.
