Oct. 4, 2012 -- The Missouri Department of Transportation will be closing lanes on Memorial Drive Sunday through Thursday nights for the next three weeks as part of preliminary design work for the Park Over the Highway project.

Crews will close up two lanes on either northbound or southbound Memorial Drive between Washington Avenue and the Poplar Street Bridge starting at 7 p.m. each night.  All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning.

In addition, the crews will close Walnut over I-70 for six nights during this work.  The dates for the Walnut closures have not yet been determined and will be released when available.

All work will be adjusted around potential Cardinal's post-season home games to ensure fans will be able to get into and out of downtown for the games.  Work on the roadway will not begin until one hour after any post-season home game ends.

While the lanes are closed, crews will be boring into the roadway to help determine existing conditions.  This helps the engineers know what's under the roadway surface when designing bridges or other structures.
