Build a team with the skills your business needs today and in the future.

  • Customize Your Training
Develop training around the specific occupations, skills and needs of your business.

  • Strengthen Your Bottom Line
Registered Apprenticeships can help employers reduce recruitment costs, improve productivity and develop workers from within.

  • Retain Workers
By investing in employees and providing clear opportunities for skill development and career advancement, apprenticeships can help businesses build a more committed workforce.

Is an Apprenticeship Program Right for My Business?

Registered Apprenticeships allow employers to develop workers for specific occupations while preparing their businesses for future workforce needs and growth.

Consider whether any of these questions apply to your company:

  • Do you need a more skilled workforce?
  • Do you want to expand or diversify your talent pool?
  • Do your employees need new skills to keep pace with changes in your industry?
  • Are experienced workers retiring or leaving, creating skills gaps?
  • Do you have occupations that could benefit from structured on-the-job training?

If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, a Registered Apprenticeship program may be a good fit for your business.

How SLATE Can Help

SLATE Missouri Job Center is an approved Apprenticeship Intermediary, allowing us to work directly with employers and community partners to develop Registered Apprenticeship programs.

Employers do not have to navigate the process alone. SLATE can help you explore whether apprenticeship is right for your business and work with you and apprenticeship partners to develop a program tailored to your workforce needs.

Registered Apprenticeships combine paid employment, structured on-the-job learning and related instruction leading to a nationally recognized credential. Employers benefit by developing workers with the specific skills their businesses need.

SLATE and Propel Kitchens: Apprenticeship in Action

SLATE launched its first Registered Apprenticeship initiative as an intermediary in partnership with Propel Kitchens. Approved by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Apprenticeship in August 2026, the Production Cook Registered Apprenticeship creates a structured pathway for participants to build food-service skills through on-the-job learning and related instruction while earning a nationally recognized apprenticeship credential.

Kisha Lee, President and CEO of Propel Kitchens, described what the partnership means for the organization:

“This apprenticeship program represents exactly what Propel Kitchens was built for — turning real kitchen work into a real career path. Partnering with SLATE gives our trainees something we couldn't offer alone: a nationally recognized credential backed by the full weight of the City's workforce infrastructure.”
