Residents or business owners impacted by the tornado, or community members serving those impacted are invited to apply to serve on the committee.

If you are a resident or business owner impacted by the tornado, or a community member serving those impacted, you are invited to apply for the Resident and Community Advisory Committee for Tornado Recovery. This committee will advise Mayor Spencer and the newly established Recovery Office on the City's recovery vision and priorities after the devastating May 16th tornado.

This committee is expected to meet two to three times this year and four times next year, each session lasting 90 minutes to two hours. Additional working groups will be formed as needed, with some emails and follow-up work conducted in between meetings.

Applications will be open until September 10 at 5 p.m. Central Time. You will be notified within three weeks of the application closing if you have been selected to serve.

Selections will be made to ensure representation across impacted neighborhoods, among demographics of those impacted, and from people with different challenges presented by the tornado.

Neighborhood Information

Some neighborhoods impacted by the tornado that do not have neighborhood plans will be starting neighborhood planning in the coming months. These include: Academy; Fountain Park; Lewis Place; College Hill; Fairground Neighborhood; O’Fallon; Penrose; Kingsway West; Wells Goodfellow; Hamilton Heights.

Those who live in or support businesses or other organizations in these neighborhoods will be eligible to apply to serve on Neighborhood Planning Committees. These committees will help shape the future of their communities by representing local voices, reviewing plans and ideas, supporting engagement efforts, and contributing to the development and adoption of a long-term Neighborhood Plan.
