First DPS Monthly Update Meeting Scheduled

The Department of Public Safety will begin holding monthly update meetings to keep you informed of our programs and our efforts to safeguard the people of St. Louis and those who visit and do business in the City.  The first meeting will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 17 at 1520 Market Street, 2nd Floor in the SLDC Boardroom.  Each division head will give a brief presentation about the division and its programs.  We will not be taking questions during the presentations, but if you have a question you would like addressed or topic you'd like covered, please let us know via Twitter (@stlpublicsafety), Facebook page Publicsafety St. Louis or email through the Department of Public Safety webpage on stlouis-mo.gov.

July 3 –5 –Fair Saint Louis, Forest Park, 5 p.m.

America's biggest birthday bash –Fair Saint Louis –will be held in Forest Park this year and will have a full lineup of concerts, shows, exhibitions and events, plus the grandest fireworks display you'll ever see.  The Fair will run from 5 to 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 3; Noon to 10:30 p.m. on Friday, July 4 and Noon to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 5.  The 132nd Annual VP Parade will step off at 10 a.m. on July 4 from The Muny on Theatre Drive in Forest Park and will end at Probstein Golf Center.  For all the details about Fair Saint Louis, visit the fairsaintlouis.org web site. July 5 -- Yoga at the Arch, Gateway Arch Grounds, 9 a.m.

Here is an opportunity for you to get fit on the Arch Grounds. Every Saturday at 9 a.m. throughout the summer, instructors from the South City YMCA will offer free yoga sessions on the grounds of the Gateway Arch.  Questions?  Call (877) 982-1410.

July 5 -- Home Tour, Magic Chef Mansion, Noon

If you have never toured the Magic Chef Mansion at 3400 Russell in the Compton Heights neighborhood, you will have the opportunity to do so this Saturday from Noon to 4 p.m.  The exquisite 30-room mansion was built in 1908 by St. Louis industrialist Charles Stockstrom, whose trademarked "Magic Chef" cookstoves became nationally famed.  Price of the tour is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, and $8 for children ages 6-12.  Need more information?  Call (314) 664-3400.

July 6 -- Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Soulard Art Market & Contemporary Art Gallery, Noon

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Wizard of Oz.  A free art exhibition inspired by this occasion will be held on Sunday, July 6 from Noon to 6 p.m. at Soulard Art Market & Contemporary Art Gallery located at 2028 S. 12th Street.  To learn more about the "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" exhibit, visit the soulardartmarket.org web site.

July 6 -- Flowers of the Four Seasons in Chinese and Japanese Art, St. Louis Art Museum, 10 a.m.

Everyone is invited to stop by the St. Louis Art Museum in Forest Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Sunday for the lovely "Flowers of the Four Seasons in Chinese and Japanese Art" exhibition.  Both China and Japan have wide-ranging climatic zones and richly diverse flora, which are beautifully depicted in the exhibit.  Go to slam.org to learn more.
