The beginning of a new year is the time when people usually make resolutions to improve themselves in some way.  I encourage you to resolve to be prepared in 2015.  Make a family emergency plan today and learn more about how you can be ready for any type of emergency the New Year may send your way.  For emergency preparedness tips, visit the City Emergency Management Agency pages on the City's website:  http://www.stlouis-mo.gov .

Upcoming Events

Jan. 10 – Job Fair, Saint Louis Zoo, 9 a.m. to Noon

The Saint Louis Zoo is now hiring for 2015 Spring/Summer/Fall seasonal employment.  The Job Fair will take place this Saturday from 9 a.m. to Noon in the Living World at the Zoo.  The seasonal positions are in Distribution, Food Service, Gift Shops, Grounds, Guest Services and more.  The Zoo is looking for quality employees, ages 15 (work permit required at time of hire) and up, who are available to work flexible hours on weekdays as well as weekends in the spring, summer and fall season.  Candidates are encouraged to apply online through the stlzoo.org web site.

Jan. 11 – Piano Recital, Second Presbyterian Church, 4 p.m.

Everyone is invited to attend the piano recital this Sunday by Dr. Peter Henderson, an ensemble keyboardist with the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra.  This exciting program of Russian piano music will feature sonatas by Igor Stravinsky and Sergei Rachmaninoff.  The free concert will take place at 4 p.m. at Second Presbyterian Church, 4501 Westminster Place in the Central West End neighborhood.  For more information, visit the secondchurch.net web site.

Jan. 11 – Family Sundays, St. LouisArt Museum, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

From helmets and masks to jewelry and shoes, the St. Louis Art Museum in beautiful Forest Park is packed with wearable art.  Visit Family Sundays in January from 1 to 4 p.m. to create your own art garb and discover some of the fantastic objects in the Museum's collection  .For more details, visit the slam.org web site.

Jan. 12 – If These Walls Could Talk, Schlafly Branch Library, 7 p.m.

Learn about the history of your home with Dennis Northcott from the Missouri History Museum Library and Research Center  .Using examples of homes in the Central West End, Mr. Northcott will show attendees how to research the history of their home.  See what discoveries can be found about your home and its former residents in old maps, directories, photos and more.  The workshop will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12 at Schlafly Branch Library, 225 N.
