2011 Bee-Fit Marathon

Your challenge is to complete 26.2 miles or more of walking / running in six weeks. Registration forms due by Sept. 9.

Bee-Fit is once again extending the challenge to all City employees to complete a full marathon (26.2 miles of walking or running), one mile at a time over six weeks. The six-week period will be from Sept. 12 - Oct. 23, 2011.

There will be three levels of completion:

Bronze - participants who complete the required minimum of 26.2 miles will receive a finisher's medal, t-shirt and completion certificate.

Silver - participants who complete a minimum of 52.4 miles (double the expectation) will receive the bronze level prizes and an additional incentive.

Gold - participants who complete OVER 52.4 miles will receive the bronze and silver level prizes and an additional incentive.

Key dates:

Kick-off Rally: Thursday, Sept. 8, Noon, in the City Hall Rotunda

Registration forms due: Friday, Sept. 9

Challenge begins: Monday, Sept. 12

Challenge ends: Sunday, Oct. 23

Training tracking log due: Friday, Oct. 28

Awards Ceremony: Thursday, Nov. 3, Noon, in the City Hall Rotunda

What you need to do:

  1. Contact Matt Meyers (MeyersM@stlouiscity.com) or your agency coordinator for a registration form. Also see the Downloads link on this page for a downloadable form.
  2. Attend the Bee-Fit Marathon Kick-off Rally for detailed information about the program.
  3. Fax ((314) 612-1488) or email registration form to Matt Meyers, NO LATER THAN Friday, Sept. 9, 2011.
  4. Begin your walking/running on Sept. 12.
  5. Record your miles each day on your Bee-Fit training log (provided after registration).
  6. Submit your training log to Matt Meyers via email or fax at the completion of the program on Oct. 23. All training logs are due NO LATER THAN Oct. 28.
  7. Attend the awards ceremony on Nov. 3 at 12 p.m. in the City Hall Rotunda -- to receive your incentives.
