Illegal dumping has been a problem in the City of St. Louis for quite some time, and city officials have gotten some new help in their efforts to catch illegal dumpers -- hidden cameras.
It costs the City $4 million a year to clean up illegally dumped trash. The cameras' cost to the city is $500,000.

Those who are caught dumping trash illegally, could face up to three days in jail, a $500 fine and 40 hours community service.
If you witness someone illegally dumping trash, call 9-1-1. If you get the license plate number of an illegal dumper or have information you want to report, call the Citizens' Service Bureau at (314) 622-4800. If the information you provide leads to a conviction, you could receive a reward.
