27 ward groundbreaking

On Tuesday, July 23, Board of Aldermen President Lewis Reed along with 27th Ward Alderwoman Pam Boyd assisted others in breaking ground for the STAR Residences Phase II project at 6367 Lalite.

"The groundbreaking of this project within the 27th ward is a positive step to rebuilding our communities, one block at a time, and ensuring our seniors are not forgotten," said Boyd.

The project is led by Lewis L. McKinney, Jr., the founder of A Caring Plus Foundation. A Caring Plus Foundation promotes services that enhance the quality of life for seniors. Through programs that focus on the overall health and wellness of seniors, the Foundation assists underserved populations and helps them access service providers in a convenient, one-stop location.

“Thank you to Lewis McKinney and A Caring Plus Foundation for investing in our most vulnerable neighborhoods and helping some of our most vulnerable residents. We must take care of our seniors, and this project does just that,” said Reed.

The new senior residential housing facility features state-of-the-art amenities and energy efficient apartments at a low rate for low-to-moderate income seniors.
