Cristina Garmendia

Cristina (she/her/hers) is the Policy Director to the President of the Board of Aldermen, where she is dedicated to advancing the President’s policy agenda. She leads the development of legislation and strategic policy initiatives, including housing, economic development, climate resilience, and good governance. Prior to her appointment, she was a policy researcher and data analyst for advocacy organizations, and designed the City of St. Louis’ Equity Indicators and the St. Louis Affordable Housing Report Card. Her diverse work experience spans government, technology, community development, and academia in St. Louis, Boston, and Newark, NJ. She earned her Master's in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and her undergraduate degree in architecture from Washington University in St. Louis. She lives in Ward 1 with her family. For fun, she reads science fiction and her favorite mode of transportation is walking.
