Additional Guidance to Health Commissioner's Order Nos. 8 & 9

The following guidance is issued in order to refine and reconcile Orders 8 and 9

In light of recent questions, the City of St. Louis Department of Health has clarified its guidelines as applied to Restaurants and Bars, Hotels and Commercial Lodging (and their Meeting Rooms) under Health Order #8 and plans submitted under the guidelines applicable to Cultural Institutions, Destinations, Attractions and Large Venues under Health Order #9. The following guidance is issued in order to refine and reconcile that guidance:

General Face Mask Policy

  • The City policy requires all persons nine (9) years of age or older in public closed spaces, outdoors when six feet of distance is unpredictable or cannot be maintained from non-related persons, and on public transportation.

Dancing/Dance Floors

  • If your facility has sufficient space to accommodate social distancing, dancing is permitted so long as masks are worn and all participants observe six feet of social distancing from others.

Beverage and Food Consumption while Standing During a Reception

  • If your facility has sufficient space to accommodate social distancing, standing is permitted, so long as masks are worn and social distancing is observed; however, a mask may be removed for the very brief period while you are sipping a beverage or actively taking a bite of food.
