The City of St. Louis Department of Health recently hosted National Medical Association leadership for a first-of-its-kind discussion on regional maternal child health. Guests from around the St. Louis region met at the Missouri Foundation for Health March 21 to discuss disparities affecting Black and brown mothers and highlighted actions being taken by everyone from private businesses to community organizations to combat them.
Department of Health Director Dr. Mati Hlatshwayo Davis moderated a panel of distinguished women in the field of maternal child health, including NMA president Dr. Yolanda Lawson, Generate Health Executive Director Kendra Copanas, doula and CEO of Jamaa Birth Village Okunsola Amadou, and Dr. Dineo Khabele of Washington University.
