Quarterly Coverage
The Refuse Division is responsible for collection and disposal of residential waste and also coordinates efforts to reduce the amount of waste going to landfills. Alley & roll cart waste collection represent a significant component of Refuse Division operations. Each alley route runs three times a week and roll cart routes run once a week. The dashboard below displays the percentage of alley & roll cart routes covered by these operations in a given quarter.

The dashboard below displays the aley and roll cart recycling coverage by week for the trailing 16 week period.
Recycling Tonnage
Between July 2024 and June 2025, over half of recycling collected was contaminated and rerouted to city landfills. Contaminated recycling rerouted to landfills is processed at the higher recycling rate for these materials, creating additional costs without the environmental benefits. In August 2025, the City transitioned to a drop-off recycling program to reduce contamination. The chart below compares the total tonnage successfully recycled in a given month and for that same month in the prior year.
