Steinberg Ice Skating Rink Closed During Renovations
Reopening in Fall 2026, Steinberg Rink will be part of a new all-season destination.
Steinberg Rink will reopen Fall 2026. It is currently being restored as part of the Glade, a 22.5-acre site, which will include indoor and outdoor spaces, providing year-round activities in Forest Park.
Opened in 1957, Steinberg Skating Rink is currently closed and undergoing renovations that will transform the rink for future generations.
While visitors to Forest Park will miss a season of ice skating, they can look forward to a modernized rink that will retain its size, and will now be part of an all-season destination with indoor and outdoor spaces.
The City of St. Louis and Forest Park Forever are partnering to create this destination, transforming the largest outdoor ice skating rink in the Midwest and its surrounding 22.5 acres for all-season activity.
“Steinberg Skating Rink will be a wonderful, all-season destination and we are very excited about it for everyone” said Greg Hayes, Director of Parks, Recreation, and Forestry for the City of St. Louis. “With this reimagined renovation, we are honoring the tradition of ice skating at Steinberg since 1957 while also creating a space for both activities and relaxation at the eastern end of Forest Park. We cannot wait to welcome everyone to this new site.”
