12th and Park Rec Center Building


Built in 1970, the 12th & Park Center is located at the corner of 12th and Tucker in Ray Leisure Park.  The center has a gymnasium, large indoor pool, boxing room, kitchen, and a couple multipurpose rooms.  Leisure park is home to Tony LaRussa baseball field, as well as a large playground.

Please be advised... 1. Bring swim suits, towels, and soap. 2. No shorts or gym attire allowed as swimming suits. 3. Optional allowable items are: goggles/masks/swimming caps 4. Swim diapers are allowed for children up to 2 years. 5. Only water wing flotation devices are allowed only in Learn To Swim Classes. 6. Swim sessions will be be canceled if weather is dangerous.

Bricks 4 Kidz Early Engineers (Session 2) Ages 6 to 10 | females and males | Sat

The City of St. Louis Recreation Department in partnership with Bricks 4 Kidz is pleased to offer their Early Engineers program. Early Engineers is a hands-on class where students build machines, buildings, vehicles, and other structures out of technic LEGO bricks, motors, and gears. Students follow a proprietary Bricks 4 Kidz plan to build a moving model. While exploring principles of engineering, physics, life sciences, and more, students will develop problem solving and critical thinking skills. Students build a new project each week, and each class begins with a teacher-led discussion related to the day?s model and the science behind it. We have models of varying degrees of difficulty to accommodate the age range of the class, ages 6-10. Bricks 4 Kidz is St Louis is owned by Easy Tech LLC, an S corporation owned solely by Nancy Portscheller, a woman who grew up and currently resides in St Louis. Ms Portscheller has a BS ? Aerospace Engineering from Missouri S&T and an MBA from Maryville University. Her goal is to provide fun Science Technology Engineering and Math programs to young children. Most Bricks 4 Kidz are teachers in school districts such as Brentwood, Kirkwood, Rockwood, and others. Other employees are college students that are working on degrees that work with children. Three employees are female engineers. All employees receive background checks and training.

Based in our 12th & Park location, youth can gain numerous benefits,great pleasure, and satisfaction from professional dance training.Dance challenges the mind and body,while providing and exhilarating sense of accomplishment through body control.We will be developing body coordination and flexibility while expanding the knowledge of positive image.

COCA - Music Matters Ages 7 to 18 | females and males | Thu

The City of St. Louis Recreation in partnership with the Center of Creative Arts (COCA) is pleased to offer...Music Matters. Students will work on vocal technique and song delivery in their group singing class. They will work on articulation, expression, posture and breath support as they learn to work as part of a group. This class is led by Mr. Kevin Mansco. Kevin has a bachelor?s degree from the University of Missouri-Rolla. He was a continuous Vocal Music substitute at Beaumont High School from 1998 -2001 where he was also responsible for the Concert Choir. In 2000, the Choir he teaches and leads was awarded the High School Choral/Gospel Choir of the year at the annual KIRL competition. He is currently a vocal music teacher at Soldan International Studies High School. He has been teaching after school classes and summer camps with COCA since 1999. M3 Labs - Media Production Ages and up | females and males | Tue, Thu

The City of St. Louis Recreation Department in partnership with Warren360Media, LLC is please to institute...M3 Labs - A Media Production Program. Students will learn how to tell their story through the arts. Through the exploration of Photography, Videography, and Graphic Design, students will learn to tell their stories by using different media. Instruction will focus on digital cameras work for photography and videography. Studio and Street photography disciplines will be addressed. Participants will learn post-production techniques used in photography and videography. Particular focus will be on learning how light and darkness impact images and the story being shared. Key terms will be featured, including an in depth understanding of the role of social media in Digital Correspondence (A new and emerging communications career). Participants will learn the power of imagery as they produce art that reflects themselves and their community as they master self empowering skills. Equipment is provided and all ages are welcome.
