The Classification and Compensation Section is responsible for monitoring and modifying the classification plan.
The Department of Personnel is continuing to provide essential services to Civil Service City employees, retirees, applicants and the general public. To help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, these essential services will not be provided in person. The normal hours for the Department of Personnel are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. All general business and public inquiries for assistance should be communicated via telephone or email. The Classification and Compensation Section is responsible for monitoring and modifying the classification plan to recognize workforce changes, new technology, reorganization and gradual changes in job assignment, and Department of Labor compliance; analyzing, preparing and administering the City's pay plan; and providing uniform scales of pay for all positions. This section also monitors the on-call, shift, overtime, and weekend pay for the City Civil Service Departments.
