St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE) announces that Michael K. Holmes, SLATE's Executive Director, was elected to serve on the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP) Board of Directors. An election took place at the NAWDP 23rd Annual Conference held on May 2011 in Virginia Beach, and was certified in June 2011.

With sustained high unemployment and budget challenges, workforce development plays a significant role in the economic recovery of the nation. The NAWDP Board of Directors identifies, implements and promotes policies and programs that will improve the effectiveness and professionalism of the workforce system.
"Michael Holmes exemplifies the degree of professionalism and commitment to excellence that America needs," said NAWDP Executive Director, Bridget Brown. "He is an innovative leader with vast experience in creating successful relationships and partnerships that enhance services and promote quality improvement. We are fortunate to have such an outstanding professional on our Board," said Brown.

NAWDP is a professional association of workforce development professionals with over 3,500 members nationwide. Members of the NAWDP Board of Directors serve without compensation or reimbursement of expenses. They contribute their time and resources to advance the profession of workforce development, both for the benefit of the NAWDP members they represent and society as a whole.
