SLATE Missouri Job Center is partnering with the City of St. Louis for recruitment events to help fill vacancies in the Streets Department. Although the City made progress with hiring workers for 100+ open positions, many more jobs remain unfilled. The City recently adjusted its pay and worker benefits and is now the largest and the most competitive employer in the area. SLATE has teamed up with the Streets Department to recruit for Refuse Division, Street Division, Recycling Program, Traffic and Lightning Division, and Towing Division.

The recruitment events will take place on Tuesday, August 23, and August 30, 2022, from 10 am to 1 pm, at WOHL Recreation Center, 1515 Kingshighway Blvd, St. Louis, Missouri 63113.

Job seekers of all professional levels are welcome to participate. We are especially looking for individuals with the CDL certification. In some cases, SLATE and the City of St. Louis may facilitate the CDL training at no cost to the participant. For a complete list of available positions, visit the City of St. Louis website at https://www.stlouis-mo.gov/jobs/index.cfm.

“SLATE is thrilled to offer these hiring opportunities to St. Louisans," said SLATE Executive Director Fredrecka McGlown. "Our team wholeheartedly supports the Mayor, who works hard to uplift the St. Louis families on different levels, specifically by offering excellent employment package to City employees. If you are looking for an opportunity to support your family and provide high-quality services to your fellow citizens, I encourage you to come out and apply for work with the Streets Department."

During the event, SLATE staff will inform participants about the open positions, help them fill out applications, navigate questions about the hiring process and benefits offered by the City to its employees, and share information about employment and training programs at SLATE. Eligible City youth can apply for and receive the no-cost Gateway Go Transit Passes.

We encourage individuals to register for the event at https://tinyurl.com/StreetsHires. For more information about the Streets Department, visit https://www.stlouis-mo.gov/government/departments/street/index.cfm.
