Overview
The Gateway ID Card is a free municipal identification card for City of St. Louis residents. The ID card helps residents access city-administered services, encourages the support of local businesses, and allows residents to participate more fully in the economic and civic life of our city.

Preparation
If you have been a City of St. Louis resident for at least 15 days, you may obtain a Gateway ID card.
If you are under 18 years old, you must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and demonstrate proof of your relationship to the parent or legal guardian.

Application Form
You may download and fill out the application in advance and bring it with you to the office, or you can fill one out when you get there.

You may apply in person at the City of St. Louis Office of the Treasurer:

Monday–Friday, 9:00 am–5:00 pm
Bring with you:
- The required documentation
- If you are under 18 or a person with a disability who has a legal guardian, bring your legal guardian with you
- Your completed application form (optional)
The City Hall parking lot on Clark Street is available for parking. Parking validations will be offered to residents who obtain their ID.
Please do not mail your application.
Fees
There is no fee to obtain a Gateway ID Card.
What to Expect
Your Gateway ID Card will be issued during your visit.
Your card will be valid for the following timeframe:
- Ages 0–17: Valid for 5 years
- Ages 18–64: Valid for 10 years
- Ages 65 and older: Lifetime card

Group Appointments
Group appointments may be scheduled as needed for community organizations or partner agencies. Contact gatewaycard@stltreasurer.org to schedule a group appointment.
Lost or Stolen Card
If you lose your Gateway ID Card, you may apply for a replacement at the Gateway ID Card Office.
