Overview

The City is launching a program to provide residents who are without electricity due to tornado damage with free services to reconnect their homes to electric power This program is a first-come-first-serve program and will conclude when all funds have been used. 

This program is in collaboration with:

  • Guarantee Electric
  • ArchKey/Sachs
  • IBEW Local 1
  • the National Electrical Contractors Association St. Louis Chapter
  • Electrical Connections
  • RJP Electric
  • St. Louis Home Repair Network

Preparation

  • Ensure you meet the requirements:
    • You live in the City.
      Check your address to make sure you're within the City limits.
    • You lost electric power due to tornado damage and remain without electricity.
    • Your home was given a yellow placard as part of the City's tornado damage assessment.
    • Your home does not have severe damage.
      Due to financial constraints, and the desire to help the most people possible, free help may be provided only to homes without severe damage.
    • You are an individual homeowner occupying your home.
      Businesses and unoccupied buildings are not eligible for the program.
    • You have a working email address and phone number.
  • Prepare the information you will need to fill out the online application:
    • A description of your electrical issues.
    • (Optional) Photos of the electrical issues you're requesting help with.
    • Your contact information.

Instructions

Use the Begin Online button to fill out the application form.

  • You will be asked to verify the address of your home. 
  • In step 3, under the Provide Details section, answer Yes to "Question 5: Electrical system work needed?"

What to Expect

  1. After you have submitted the form, an IBEW or NECA volunteer will call you to schedule an electricity assessment.
  2. After the assessment, Electrical Connections will perform or schedule feasible repairs at no charge to you. Electrical Connections will manage the process to obtain liability waivers, schedule assessments, and schedule repairs.
  3. Once the repairs are complete, you can contact Ameren to restore power.
