Overview
Tornadoes can cause profound disruption, including loss of homes, loved ones, and community stability. Survivors often face significant mental health challenges such as trauma, anxiety, depression, and grief. Access to culturally competent, trauma-informed mental health care is critical to support recovery and resilience.
The City of St. Louis, through the fiscal agent United Way of Greater St. Louis, invites eligible organizations to apply for funding to provide mental health and wellness assistance to disaster survivors facing mental health issues directly related to the May 16th tornado. This funding aims to support mental health services for residents, including crisis counseling, trauma counseling, grief counseling, talk and behavioral therapy. Wellness services that address coping skills, resiliency, and other related interventions will also be considered.
The total anticipated amount of funds available for these grants is $200,000, with no more than 10% of awards being used for administrative costs.
