Overview

DCM is a program that helps individuals and families recover after a major disaster (like the May 16 tornado). It connects survivors with resources, services, and support to help them rebuild their lives and become self-sufficient again.

DCM provides one-on-one assistance through a trained disaster case manager who helps survivors:

  • Assess unmet disaster-related needs.
  • Develop a recovery plan.
  • Find and apply for resources (FEMA aid, housing, repairs, legal help, mental health care, etc.).
  • Coordinate with nonprofits, local agencies, and government programs.
  • Navigate available aid programs and rebuilding steps.

What to Expect

Your case will be assigned for further review, and you will be contacted once a case manager is assigned.

Due to the high amount of need and a limited number of Disaster Case Managers (DCMs), it may take some time for the case manager to begin working with you. We ask and advise that you maintain patience as we work to service all who have signed up in a timely and orderly manner.

In the meantime, you are encouraged to look up available community resources here or by calling United Way 211 (dial 211). Seniors 60 years of age and older, or individuals with a disability should call the St. Louis Area Agency on Aging at 314-612-5918.
