"From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your beautiful presence at the Prescott Memorial . . .your representatives looked so dashing and honorable in their dress uniform with true helmet.  Thank you on behalf of AZ.  I am from a ff family and feel this quite deeply.  Again, thank you for your beautiful presence."  Signed, Lori Lee

The St. Louis Fire Department received the above email on July 9, two days after the Memorial Service for the fallen 19 Granite Mountain Hotshot firefighters in Prescott, AZ.  Several members of the Department's Honor Guard had joined with hundreds of other firefighters from across the country to pay tribute to this elite squad on July 7.  The loss of the 19 Hotshots was the greatest loss of life for firefighters since Sept. 11, 2001.

Members of the Honor Guard also traveled to Houston, TX in June to pay tribute to four firefighters killed in a hotel and restaurant blaze described as the deadliest in the history of that city's Fire Department.
