ST. LOUIS PUBLIC LIBRARY'S JULY AUTHORS  @ YOUR LIBRARY SERIES PRESENTS DR. JASON THOMPSON

The St. Louis Public Library, in conjunction with its "The Grand Tour" exhibit, is proud to present historian/author Dr.Jason Thompson.  The author of Wonderful Things: A History of Egyptology: From Antiquity to 1881 will discuss travel to Egypt during the European Grand Tour era. The program takes place in Central Library's Carnegie Room, 1301 Olive Street, on July 9 a t7 p.m.  The event is FREE and open to the public.

Wonderful Things is a story of the people—famous and obscure—who constructed the picture of ancient Egypt that we have today, recovered the Egyptian past while inventing it anew, and made a lost civilization comprehensible to generations of readers and viewers thousands of years later. The book is the first in a three-volume history of Egyptology that tracks civilization's fascination with Egypt.

Call 314.539.0347 for details.

"The Grand Tour" Exhibit, a collaboration between the St. Louis Public Library and the Campbell House Museum, is on display in Central Library's Great Hall through August 22.
