Voter Identification

Acceptable forms of voter identification

RSMO Section 115.427.1 requires a voter, before he or she may be issued a ballot, to present some form of personal identification.

Check with the Missouri Secreatry of State for the most current information on acceptable forms of voter ID and samples of acceptable forms of ID

Acceptable forms of personal ID include: 

  1. Identification issued by the State of Missouri, an agency of the state, or a local election authority (such as a Voter ID Card).
  2. Identification issued by the U.S. government or an agency of the U.S. government (such as a Social Security Card).
  3. Identification issued by an institution of higher education (including a college, university, vocational or technical school) located within the State of Missouri.
  4. A current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or other government document that contains the name and address of the voter.

Note: a photo ID is not required in order to vote in Missouri.
