Collector of Revenue

Enroll in the Personal Property Tax and Real Estate Tax Pre-Pay Program

The pre-pay program allows individuals and businesses to make payments toward future personal property tax or real estate tax liabilities.

Overview

The Collector of Revenue offers a pre-pay program, which allows taxpayers to make deposits towards future personal property tax or real estate tax liabilities. Once enrolled, taxpayers can make payments towards their end of the year tax obligations at their convenience. There is not a set payment plan or schedule, and you can make payments as often or seldom as you like.

This program does not include accounts with back taxes due.

Preparation

To sign up for this initiative, please complete the pre-pay application form.

Instructions

To sign up for the program:

Online: Complete the application and email it to stlprepaycor@stlouis-mo.gov. Your pre-pay account will not become active until you send a payment.

There is a payment deadline of September 30th for payments to be applied to the current calendar year.

Fees

The tax rates are not established until October so we are unable to provide information on how much your taxes will be. To get a general estimate, you can base the amount off of the prior year's taxes.

What to Expect

Once you make your first payment, you will receive a paid receipt, a payment stub that includes your account number to send with your next payment, and a return envelope to send your next payment.

Additional Information

If you overpay on your account, the funds will be applied to the bill for next year unless you request a refund in writing. Mail or email your refund request to the Pre-Pay Department.

No payments will be returned or refunded once they have been received. Payments are also not allowed to be transferred for payment to other Collector of Revenue or City of St. Louis bills.
