John Moten

John Moten spent the majority of his 40 year trailblazing career at Spire (formerly Laclede Gas), culminating with serving as Senior Vice President of Operations and Marketing, where he was responsible for overseeing approximately 2,000 employees. Since retiring from Spire, Mr. Moten has served as consultant for various companies, providing executive coaching, community relations, and strategic planning.

Mr. Moten has extensive community experience. Mr. Moten has served as chair of the Missouri Commission on Human Rights (MCHR), which is responsible for developing, recommending, and implementing ways to prevent and eliminate discrimination and to provide fair and timely resolutions of discrimination claims through enforcement of the Missouri Human Rights Act. The MCHR investigates complaints of discrimination in housing, employment, and places of public accommodations based on race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, sex, disability, age (in employment only), and familial status (in housing only). Mr. Moten has served on search committees for numerous high-profile positions such as St. Louis Community College President, Missouri Commissioner of Education, and St. Louis Public Schools Superintendent.
