"Happy New Year, St. Louis!" Mayor Francis G. Slay rings in the New Year 2013 during First Night festivities in Grand Center. The festivities began at 6 p.m. both indoors at various locations including Busch Student Center, Grandel Theatre, Kranzberg Arts Center, St. Francis Xavier College Church and Third Baptist Church and outdoors at the Main Stage at Grand and Lindell, on Grand at the intersection of Grand and Washington, in Strauss Park and under the Big Top on Grand, south of the Fabulous Fox Theatre. Performers included The Flying Wallendas, the Purina Incredible Dog Team, music by Babaloo, Bob Kramer's Marionnettes, and much more.

Mayor Francis G. Slay presents a proclamation to Mrs. Lucille Hamm in honor of her 105th birthday. Mrs. Hamm gathered with friends and family on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013 to celebrate this milestone occasion. She was born on Jan. 30, 1908 in Carol, IL, the ninth of 15 children. At the age of 105, Mrs. Hamm requires very little assistance to maintain her active, happy life. Happy birthday, Mrs. Hamm!
