City Continues to Offer Funding Assistance for Non-Profit Organizational Work in Tornado Response

These resources from the Rams Settlement funds will help nonprofits address hunger relief, legal services, and mental health for residents.

The City of St. Louis has obtained approval from the St. Louis City Board of Aldermen and the St. Louis City Board of Estimate and Apportionment under Board Bill 31 to deploy $3 million as specific awards or amounts from the Rams Settlement Funds for the Tornado Relief and Recovery Fund.

The City, through the fiscal agent United Way of Greater St. Louis, invites eligible organizations to apply for funding to provide assistance to people impacted by the May 16th tornado and who are facing issues involving food insecurity, navigating legal challenges, and addressing mental health issues.

“Disasters often cause profound disruption to community stability,” said Julian Nicks, Chief Recovery and Neighborhood Transformation Officer. “This funding is crucial to helping our residents navigate challenges, prevent displacement, and to ensure recovery and resilience.”

In addition, the City of St. Louis will also provide almost $1.9M in Rams Settlement funding to go towards Disaster Case Management (DCM)-- certified case managers who will help disaster survivors navigate the resource landscape. The organizations entrusted by the City of St. Louis to provide DCM services are Catholic Charities, The Salvation Army, LifeWise STL, and Housing Options Provided for the Elderly, Inc. (HOPE).
