Building Division Data

Building permits issued in under 30 days.

Building Permit Performance

One of the core functions of the Building Division is to issue building permits, which serve as a formal and legal authorization to start construction work on a property. Permit volumes can serve as a proxy for economic activity, and timely permit processing is essential for supporting developers and residents and increasing stakeholder satisfaction.

The dashboard below is a summarized view of permit issuance times. We recognize that a more refined analysis would take into account the type of permits (building vs trade) or the dollar value (size) on permits. However, this is an early aggregated look. Additionally, understanding the impact of the number of permits against performance will be necessary.

In the chart below, we evaluated aggregated permit issuance times against a goal of 80% of the permits issued in under 30 days. A new online permit system launched in February 2026 streamlined the process and should lead to improved results.
