Request Out of Town Docket

You can request placement on the Out of Town docket if you live outside the limits of the City of St. Louis.

Overview

You can request placement on the "Out of Town" docket if you live outside the limits of the City of St. Louis and have cases in the St. Louis City Municipal Court which are active or in warrant status.

Cases are adjudicated on the third Monday of the month or the next business day in cases of a City holiday or Court closing.

For All Cases, warrant or active, the defendant:

  1. must present a written request for placement on the "Out of Town" docket, and
  2. must acknowledge guilt.

Preparation

  1. Confirm your Case is Eligible for the Out of Town Docket.
Cases not considered for the Out of Town Docket are:  
  • Housing
  • Earnings Tax
  • Nuisance
  • Solicitation
  • Prostitution
  • Truancy
  • DUI/DWI
  • Leaving the Scene of an Accident and any traffic citation that involves a motor vehicle accident
  1. Compliance Letter. If you need a compliance letter please review How to Obtain a Compliance Letter procedures.

  2. Not Guilty Plea. If you are not willing to plead guilty, you must make a personal appearance or have attorney representation 

  3. Review Your Rights. Before proceeding with a Request please make sure you are familiar with the Your Rights in the Muncipal Court document.

Instructions

Your "Out of Town" docket request must follow these requirements:

  1. The "Out of Town" docket request must be in writing and can be typed or printed and must contain the following information:
  • Your full name with current mailing address.
  • A working telephone number.
  • You must state that you wish placement on the “Out of Town" docket
  • You must state that you waive your right to make a personal appearance
  • You must state that you are pleading guilty to the charge(s)
  • You must list the case number and the charge
  1. This statement must be notarized by a licensed Notary Public
  2. For requests sent by mail, Include a self-addressed stamped envelope with your "Out of Town" docket request 
  3. If you wish to submit additional information or explanation, it must be on a separate piece of paper.
  4. If you have one or more cases in warrant status you must also include a money order or cashier's check totaling $150.00 USD for each case that is in warrant, payable to the City of St Louis.  
  • It is imperative that you write the case number(s) on the money order

In Person Requests

  1. Come to the St. Louis City Municipal Court located at 1520 Market Street, St. Louis, Missouri 63103, Suite 1120 (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. except on City Holidays)
  2. Bring the completed Out of Town Docket request.
  3. Bring a money order or cashier's check totaling $150.00 USD for each case that is in warrant, payable to the City of St Louis.  Write the case number(s) on the money order.

The $150.00 will be used as a bond on the case(s); at the end of the case this money will be applied to the judicial assessment entered on the case(s).  

By Mail Requests

It is recommended you use Certified, Insured or Registered Postal Services in the event you need to track your mail.

Fees

Once you receive a dipostion of your citation(s) from the court, you can pay your fine(s) on-line using payitstlouis.com 

What to Expect

After we receive your "Out of Town" docket request, your case will be presented to a judge on the next "Out of Town" docket date.

We will send you a judgment letter informing you the decision made on your case and any fines and court costs assessed by the judge. You should normally receive a judgment letter about 15 days after the judge reviews your case on the "Out of Town" docket. 

If you have posted bond money on your case and the money is sufficient to pay the assessments, your bond money will be credited to your case(s). Read more on Cash Bond Refunds.

Your case(s) will be then be closed. If there is money remaining after payment of your assessment(s), you will be issued a refund check through the U.S. Postal service.

If your bond money is not sufficient to pay the assessment(s), we will credit your bond money to your case and we will send you a letter with a statment of the remaining balance. 

If the Court requires further information you will receive a Notice. In either situation you should expect a response in 5-10 business days after the judge reviews your case(s) on the "Out of Town" docket.
