Nature of Work
This is work maintaining the physical security of city buildings through the maintenance and repair of an array of electronic systems, including PBX telephone switches, trunked radio systems, fire alarm systems, perimeter detection systems, PLCs, and CCTV/DVR systems. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining the security system and it’s components; the Building Automation System; servers, software, and hardware for the intercom system, card readers, and doors; and work to develop and maintain schedules for the life cycle replacement of components of these systems. Duties will also include working with contractors and engineers to ensure proper installation and performance of equipment.
Associate’s degree in Electronic Engineering Technology;
OR, completion of a two-year training program in electronics from a recognized trade school, AND one year of experience in the maintenance and repair of a Building Automation Control System;
OR, an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must be able to present license at the time of the Oral Interview. Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application. Applicants who do not possess a Missouri driver’s will be required to present a “Driving Record Check” from their State’s Department of Motor Vehicles.
Official proof of completion of the educational requirement must be submitted at the time of the Oral Interview.
To be eligible for veterans preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Experience or training using Wonderware software. Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing PLCs and intercom systems.

CHARACTER INVESTIGATION: These positions require candidates to pass a "Character Investigation" prior to appointment. The Director of Personnel may reject the application, or refuse to test and/or eliminate an applicant from an examination as otherwise permitted by law.
