Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position enforce local, state and federal laws and FAA regulations at St. Louis Lambert International Airport. Duties include patrolling assigned areas, making arrests, conducting investigations and appearing in court as needed. This position involves shift, weekend and holiday assignments. Successful completion of a P.O.S.T. certified training program (minimum 600 hours) and granted Class A certification by the State of Missouri at the time of the Written Test. Please note P.O.S.T. certification on the Employment Application.
License: Applicants must posses and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must be able to present license at the time of the Oral Interview. Please note type of license, number, class, and expiration date on the Employment Application. At the time of the Oral interview, applicants who do not have a Missouri driver’s license will be required to submit a “Driving Record Check” from their State’s Department of Motor Vehicles.
The Employment History and Educational/Training History sections of the Employment Application must be completed. Resumes will not be accepted as a substitute to a fully completed Employment Application. When completing the Employment History section of the Employment Application, include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment. Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered.
MEDICAL: Candidates will be required to pass a “Drug Screen Test” as part of the medical examination.
VETERANS PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
Employees assigned to St. Louis Lambert International Airport may be eligible for a commuting allowance of $141.00 bi-weekly.
A ten year character investigation will be conducted in accordance with FAA regulations for positions with the Airport Authority.
