Nature of Work

Incumbents in this position provide computer support for networks and stand alone units. Examples of duties include providing user training, configuring and installing hardware and software and resolving problems with computer hardware and software, networks and peripheral equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) certificate; plus two years of computer technical support experience reconfiguring, installing and troubleshooting problems with hardware and software; OR an Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field. OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Certification: As part of the character investigation, applicants must meet the minimum screening requirements for certification to access the REJIS Criminal Justice Information System.

Documentation of academic credentials must be presented at the time of the Oral Interview.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: At least one year of previous customer service experience in a computer help desk work environment troubleshooting/resolving network and user problems.

A limited number of applicants may be scheduled for the Oral Interview based on an evaluation of their qualifying education, training and experience as listed on the Employment Application.
