Nature of Work

Incumbents in this position are responsible for coordinating the operation, maintenance, repair and replacement of a variety of mechanical systems which service the Airport's main terminals, concourses and outlying facilities. Examples of duties include maintaining all air handlers, pumps, chillers, roof-top units, exhaust systems, sand dryers and glycol recovery systems through subordinate supervisors and preparing and managing the annual budget and contracts for the Climate Control Section of the Airport's Operations and Maintenance Division.

Minimum Qualifications

Five years of experience in the operation and maintenance of high capacity, commercial HVAC systems with high pressure boilers including at least two years in a supervisory capacity.  OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

License:  Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis.  Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present it at the Oral Interview.  Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application.  Applicants who do not possess a Missouri driver's license must present a "Driving Record Check" from their State's Department of Motor Vehicles.

A limited number of applicants may be scheduled for the Oral Interview based on an evaluation of their qualifying education, training and experience as listed on the Employment Application.  Complete the Employment History and Educational/Training History sections of the Employment Application even if you submit a resume.  Resumes will not be accepted as a substitute to a fully completed application.  When completing the Employment History section of the application, include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment.  Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered.

VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS:  To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview.  The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.

Employees assigned to St. Louis Lambert International Airport may be eligible for a commuting allowance of $141.00 bi-weekly.

A ten year background investigation will be conducted in accordance with FAA regulations for positions at St. Louis Lambert International Airport.
