Applicants who meet the minimum experience and training requirements will start at $41,834 annually. Applicants who have successfully completed a bona fide apprenticeship program registered with the Department of Labor and obtained journeyman status will start at $54,704 annually. Proof of successful completion of a bona fide apprenticeship program registered with the Department of Labor and journeyman status must be submitted at the time of the Oral Interview.
Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position are responsible for supervising and participating in installing, maintaining and repairing heating, ventilating and air conditioning and refrigerating equipment and systems within City buildings and facilities.

An Associate's degree or completion of a two year training program in Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating Technology from a recognized trade school or junior college; plus four years of experience in the diagnosis, installation, maintenance and repair of refrigeration, air conditioning and heating systems doing commercial and institutional HVAC service and installation work. OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Certification: Must be certified in EPA Standards at the Universal level (Type I, II and III) for refrigeration handling.
License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of filing application and be able to present it at the Oral Interview. Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application. Applicants who do not possess a Missouri driver’s license must present a “Driving Record Check” from their State’s Department of Motor Vehicles.
Documentation of academic credentials, certification in EPA Standards and proof of completion of a bona fide apprenticeship program registered with the Department of Labor and journeyman status (if applicable) must be submitted at the time of the Oral Interview.
