Normal entry salary is $36,400.

Nature of Work

Incumbents in this position are responsible for performing laboratory test procedures on secured evidence for the purposes of identification and to prepare written report of those findings. Examples of duties include performing DNA analysis and drug chemistry analysis; preparing documentation and reports on findings, and presenting findings in court.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Genetics, or a closely related field. OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. 

License:  Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis.  Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present license at the time of the Oral Interview.  Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application.  Applicants who do not possess a Missouri driver's license will be required to present a "Driving Record Check" from their State's Department of Motor Vehicles.

Documentation of academic credentials must be submitted at the time of the Oral Interview.

When completing the Employment Application, please be as thorough as possible when describing your qualifying education, training and experience.  Include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment on the application.  Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered.  Resumes will not be accepted as a substitute to a fully completed application.

MEDICAL:  Candidates will be required to pass a "Drug/Alcohol Screen" as a part of the medical examination.

VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS:  To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview.  The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
