Attorney I (Trainees) shall receive the bi-weekly Trainee rate of $1,655.00 upon appointment and serve in a working test (probationary) period. Attorney I (Trainees) will be required to be licensed as an attorney by the State of Missouri by the completion of their working test period. Upon successful completion of their working test period and being granted permanent status, an Attorney I (Trainee) shall receive a title change to Attorney I and be advanced to the bi-weekly rate of $2,265.00 with an annual salary range of $58,890 - $74,906.
Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position perform work in the City Counselor's Office within the parameters of Missouri Supreme Court Rule 13.01. Work may include assisting a supervising attorney in the areas of municipal prosecution, problem properties, civil litigation, contracts and/or real estate matters.

Applicant must be a current law student with an expected graduation date by June 1, 2020 from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association.
Candidates will be required to submit their Law School transcript and two legal writing samples at the time of the Oral Interview.
A limited number of applicants may be scheduled for the Oral Interview based on an evaluation of their academic qualifications as listed on the Employment Application and an evaluation of the academic qualifications and writing samples. Please fully describe any work experience and educational achievements (e.g., rank, honors, service on law journal or review, service on Moot Court, published law review article, etc.) Include reasons for changes in employers and any gaps in employment on the application. Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered.
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
